FINALLY STREAMERS!!! I saved this one until Halloween season. I finally got a chance to watch the latest installment in the Insidious series, Insidious: The Red Door. Here, we leap about ten years into the future in the series after Josh and Dalton have been hypnotized to forget their astral projecting ability. Dalton is off to college and yet his past is creeping back into his life. Insidious behavior ensues. Let’s see how it turns out.

Honestly, it doesn’t turn out too well, for a horror movie. Yes, it follows pretty much exactly the other Insidious movies, but it really didn’t have the heart or the depth of story or even a scary entity. Let’s be honest. How scary can art class really be? Here, the actors did the norm, the story was the norm but the creativity that horror allows was lacking. For instance, the scariest and most haunting thing from this series of movies is the creepy song that just won’t leave your head. Now, maybe you can’t bring that back again but there was nothing like that in this movie. If there is, what is it? Don’t go to college parties? I think we already know that. The suspense and horror is lacking because you already know what you’re going to get from these movies. That’s an unfortunate side effect of continuing these series like Saw, The Conjuring, Halloween etc. Luckily, I couldn’t run to the theater to see this like I was trying to.

Ultimately, Insidious: The Red Door is the most forgettable movie of the Insidious series. The movie follows the similar storyline and set up as the other movies, but it lacks originality, suspense, and scares. This movie is definitely watchable as a streaming movie, but you could just watch the other movies of the series and be better off. Grab a handful of popcorn and catch this when it hits Netflix in November.
