The Stream: Nothing interesting.
The Big Screen: Nice action sequences and some Mark Wahlberg one liners.
The Final Bill: A mostly average and predictable spy movie only saved by the comedic stylings of Marky Mark.

Welcome back, Streamers! From an alien epic to the mean streets of Europe, this weekend we bring you the Netflix flick, The Union. This movie follows Mike (Mark Wahlberg), a down-to-earth construction worker, who is thrusted into the world of super-secret agents when his high school sweetheart, Roxanne (Halle Berry), recruits him on a high-stakes U.S. intelligence mission. Secret agent comedy movie hijinks ensue.
Top ten worst hairstyles in a movie I’ve ever seen. Why is this important? The hair is so distracting. The Union’s whole thing is not being noticed. And, oh, buddy, everyone is going to notice that weirdo hairstyle on a 50-year-old lady! I mean come on! It was the most out of place aspect of the movie. The rest of the movie, honestly, was just an average movie you’ve seen before. Recruit a new spy, train a new spy montage, first mission, bigger mission, twist of the movie, and end of the movie. This formula has been run into the ground. There’s nothing different here other than it’s Marky Mark and Catwoman. Just make us feel gooooood, with the action. Sure, the movie does that though it seems more like an afterthought. For a movie that’s pegged as a buddy comedy, there’s not that much buddy or comedy to the movie. Mark Wahlberg actually has some nice lines, which saves the movie from complete lack of humor, but it’s hard to compare to a buddy comedy like The Other Guys.

Honestly, that sums The Union up perfectly. The most basic average spy movie that lacks comedy. Mark Wahlberg tries to save the movie with his comedic performance, but that would’ve taken a lot out of him. The action of the movie is solid but nothing you won’t miss. You don’t have to run to Netflix to check this out, but if you watch the movie, you’ll get some entertainment out of it. You can’t get more middle of the road and handful of popcorn with this movie.
