Welcome to Halloween season, Streamers! This week we were able to catch Peter Pan’s Neverland Nightmare on Peacock. This movie is an adaptation of the Peter Pan story where Wendy finds her brother is in need of rescue from the evil Peter Pan. Along the way, we get some gruesome hijinks while we see if Wendy can save her brother from Neverland.

There’s not much to this short movie, which is great. Do horror movies really need to be think-pieces or dissertations…? I don’t think so. Get to the slashing and scaring – or scarring, in this case. We all know the Peter Pan story, and we’ve passed it along to kids. Now this is the way of passing along the trauma of the same story. This movie is creative with the play on Neverland. It’s a never land for sure, never going there, never going back or never coming back. Strangely enough, the old tales are the same thing but told nicely. Anyway, you watch this movie for the kills and thrills. If the Terrifier series didn’t exist, the violence in this movie would be surprising, but Terrifier has just taken the slasher flick up a notch. Now, the difference is Terrifier in a way is ironic/comical killings whereas this Peter Pan was just trying to bring the pain. Either way, it was gross and exactly what people came to see. Other than that, there’s not much to the story and the bit of the story you get is pretty random and weird enough to be interesting.

Short story even shorter, Peter Pan’s Neverland Nightmare is a gruesome horror slasher that has potential. The movie has all of the gross and semi-creative ways to make you say yuck but it needs a bit more story to keep it going. This movie reminds me of Terrifier and the following it could gain if more is to come. Definitely check out this movie with a big box of popcorn on Peacock or whatever streaming service you can get it on for this Halloween Season.
