Welcome back, Streamers! The new year has begun, and the streaming blockbusters are making their way to your living room. This week we were able to catch up with #1 movie on Netflix, The Rip. This movie follows a group of Miami cops who find stashes of illegal money. They stumble upon a stash of millions in cash, and the money turns the department against itself. Whodunnit cop hijinks ensue.

This movie is one of those ones where you see Matt Damon and Ben Affleck and you just expect it to be top notch. Well, don’t be fooled. If this came to theaters, you’d probably be disappointed but because this is a straight to a streamer… we have a different standard. Ben and Matt are in no way, shape, or form bad in this movie. They play off each other well and make this movie go. Everyone else provides subpar or mid performances, including the dog. Teyana Taylor is in this movie acting like her typical self, and you ask yourself why didn’t they save money on the budget and cast a no-named actress to do exactly nothing like Teyana did. Either way get that check, boo boo! Outside of the cast, the movie is generally entertaining and thrilling. The issue is you know exactly what’s coming and though there are other twists the big reveal is in no way a shocker, which makes the build-up of intensity so anticlimactic. Also, how many times can you say the rip… ugh.

Long story short, The Rip is a solid whodunnit movie but also sadly obvious even before the movie is explained to the viewer. Mattfleck do a pretty good job as usual, but the rest of the movie is just average or annoying. Grab a bowl of popcorn and stream this flick if you get a chance.
