Streamers, you know what time of year it is… the summer blockbuster. We’re talking explosions, big action sequences, and whole bunch of extra dying and that’s exactly what you’re getting with Netflix’s Extraction II. This sequel begins after our guy, Tyler Rake, barely survives his grievous wounds from his mission in Dhaka, Bangladesh, Tyler is back, and his team is ready to take on their next mission.
Well, you already know the action and camera work are hard-hitting and OD. You know why you’re watching this movie. Don’t even pretend. I’ll say some of the camerawork this time around is a bit shaky and disorienting. I think this is done on purpose, but it can also be difficult to watch at times. Next, we have the limited cast. Honestly, the crew works well together, but while the bad guys “bad guy,” there’s not much to them. However, Thor aka Tyler Rake definitely puts some depth into this unkillable force. Here’s where that falters: it’s the same story as so many others. As soon they say there’s a past, you know exactly what’s going to happen. So, despite the surprising kills, the storyline lacks originality. This doesn’t kill anything for an action movie watcher, but it does make the movie longer than necessary. And surprisingly, the first movie had a bit more depth to it and that movie was literally 94% shooting and killing. I guess we’ll just have to see how this story progresses… *Wink*

Long story short, Extraction II is exactly what you were flipping to Netflix for. The movie has big action sequences, fights, car chases, gun fights, and you get your money’s worth. The movie also follows the predictable hitman with a heart storyline that while nice is just typical and boring. I’m surprised Netflix doesn’t put this on the big screen but it’s definitely worth a big box of popcorn, even with the storyline.
