Hey, Streamers! While the releases in the theaters keep relying on remakes, reboots, and legacy sequels, there are movies with original stories being released on Netflix. One such offering is the new animated film, KPop Demon Hunters. Yes, the title leaves a bit to be desired, but, at least, it tells you what the movie is about. In KPop Demon Hunters, Rumi, Mira and Zoey are a successful K-Pop girl group called, Huntr/x; and they are also demon hunters protecting the world with their voices and their fighting skills. Huntr/x is on the verge of sealing the world and banishing demons permanently with a live performance of their latest single when a mysterious new boy band, the Saja Boys, begins to rival their popularity and jeopardize their ability to protect the world. Musical demon hunting hijinks ensue.
KPop Demon Hunters is a surprising movie in many ways. It has very strong animation that highlights the style and individuality of its characters. Each character is distinct and expressive, which helps to show their emotion and humor. The animation is also kinetic and entertaining in the fight scenes and the musical numbers. There is a lot of imagination on display throughout. However, the biggest 9thselling point is definitely the infectious soundtrack. The filmmakers really nailed K-Pop. These songs are so good that you’ll want to sing and dance along instantly. I have been listening to the songs on repeat since I first watched the movie. Lastly, I’ll note that the movie depicts its moral very well despite the fact that the plot is otherwise pretty basic. The kids will learn a good lesson about being themselves and not hiding who you truly are – all while bopping to these insanely catchy K-Pop tunes.

Ultimately, KPop Demon Hunters is a very entertaining movie with dazzling animation and infectious songs. While the basic plot relies on familiar storylines, the characters are engaging, and the moral of the story is worthwhile for audience members of all ages. Most of all, the music is so catchy and fun that you’ll be humming along instantly. Grab the family and a big box of popcorn.
