Welcome back, Streamers! This weekend Netflix and Adam Sandler teamed up again to bring the sequel to Happy Gilmore, Happy Gilmore 2. The movie is long overdue but right on time as we follow Happy’s return to golf and the anger management golfing antics ensue. Let’s see if this movie is up to par.

Honestly, I must say I was skeptical about bringing Happy Gilmore back after so many years later. However, there are few people in Hollywood that you can trust to do what they do best regardless of the timing, and Adam Sandler is one of them. In Happy Gilmore 2, Sandler has found a way to make a slapstick story emotional so that it actually makes you care about the lead character again. Winning a golf tourney so grandma won’t lose her home was meh at best, but a redemption family love story is legit. He’s twisted dad fears into all of this and kept the comedy clean. Clean meaning true to the Happy Gilmore original movie. Sandler and cast, which is a deep roster of who’s who in comedy, found some comedic magic in this film that probably will continue the classic nature of the first. Comedy in itself has lost some of the ability to be punchy which made it funny but this movie sticks to a timeless comedy that never fails, poking fun at yourself, bait and switch, physical comedy, and etc. I’m not saying you’re going to wet your pants or anything but, in a world, where a lot of comedic movies are struggling to get viewers to laugh at all so they turn to Tik Toks and YouTuber pranks, this movie brings the laughs as well as the feels. Speaking of cast, everybody and their mother is in this movie from professional golf legends, current golfers, SNL cast, to Lavelle Crawford and Bad Bunny.

Overall, Happy Gilmore 2 is exactly what you’d expect. A golfing comedy with all of the callbacks from the first movie. Grab a big box of popcorn and chuckle it up with Happy “Octavious Gilmore and his boys!
