Well, Streamers, the summer of sequels continues with Nobody 2. Nobody premiered with little fanfare in 2021 when audiences were not going to theaters for original movies, but it has grown in esteem over the years. As a result of the original’s following, we have Nobody 2, which finds Hutch Mansell (Bob Odenkirk) mired in assignments as an assassin to pay back the money he destroyed in the first film. These assignments have taken him away from his quiet life with his family and driven a new wedge in his marriage. In order to reconnect with his family, Hutch takes the Mansells to a janky water park for a vacation, but trouble seems to find him wherever he goes. Duck boats and trigger-happy hijinks ensue.
Nobody 2 follows the same formula as Nobody except now the family is on vacation. Bob Odenkirk still has surprising charm, and he shows that he has gone to the school of Keanu Reeves and Liam Neeson for over-50 action heroes. Odenkirk is able to bring humor and excitement to all these crazy fight scenes. Also, other members of the family get in on the action. In particular, it is good to see Connie Nielsen have more to do, and it’s always fun to have RZA kicking butt. Plus, Sharon Stone shows up for a daffy, villainous performance. Most importantly for this movie, the action sequences are engaging and exciting. They really pack a punch and will have you wincing in your seat. However, a major issue is that the main fighting and action sequences take too long to get to. There’s not a lot of set up for the story in the beginning necessarily, but it still takes about 20 or more minutes for the gears of the plot to start turning.

Ultimately, Nobody 2 doesn’t deviate from the formula of the original. Bob Odenkirk still has the humor and charm to make his assassin with anger issues entertaining, and the family gets more to do. While it takes too long to get to the action sequences, it is still a fun time for a movie that’s less than 90 minutes long. Grab a bow of popcorn for a quick matinee at the movies.
