Streamers, we’re back and ready to eat up for Thanksgiving. This week we were able to watch Mortal. Mortal is a story about a young man discovering he has God-like powers based on ancient Norwegian mythology. It’s a basic basic story, so this will be a basic basic review.

Clearly, this movie is talking about Thor. This is not a spoiler because there is only one Norwegian Mythology that people care about, especially after the MCU. Now, the acting is not good. The CGI is mediocre at best. Nevertheless, if you start watching, the story is still intriguing enough to make you want to know what’s going to happen. What is going on and how do I get this to happen to me? We do find out what’s going on and I’m still willing to risk Midsommar-like happenings to obtain these powers. In fact, the saving grace of this movie is the Norwegian lore… aka Thor and Oden myths and how it is updated. I do enjoy mythology and a good adventure. The endings is a bit of a cliffhanger, so the filmmakers did a very good job with leaving the viewer wanting more, even though we didn’t get that much in the first place.

S2S: Official Rating Scale

Realistically, Mortal was an origin story flick that leaves the viewer wanting. It’s got just enough to keep you watching but is still slightly boring. This is a handful of popcorn but it has made me intrigued about a follow-up film. Watch if you get bored or just like Norwegian Mythology.
